Alvéole is a deep tech company founded in 2010 by three CNRS researchers in collaboration with Quattrocento, a "creator of deep tech in the field of life sciences" enabling academic researchers to transform their inventions into commercial products. The company's ambition is to become the benchmark for tools for creating in vitro cellular environments with more reliable models, thereby helping to reduce animal testing while accelerating scientific research.
The GDR Quantitative Approaches to Life Sciences (CNRS 2108) aims to consolidate and promote links between communities at the interface between biology and physics.
Our network follows on the former “Physics from cell to tissue” (“Physique de la cellule au tissu”, CellTiss) research network. While preserving the dynamics established between the members of CellTiss, the objective of this new iteration is to cover quantitative approaches to biology in the broadest sense.

The Interdisciplinary Institute for Neuroscience (IINS) is a research center that undergoes pluridisciplinary research by associating chemists, biologists, biophysicists and neurobiologists. They particularly study synaptic transmission, i.e. the communication between brain cells and the impact of this communication on neuronal networks and behavior. IINS scientists put a strong emphasis on developments of new investigation technologies combined with use of advanced tools.
All of the LJP's activities focus on physics at the interface with biology and medicine. They develop new experimental approaches aimed at probing the properties of complex biological systems at different scales, and they seek to create new physicochemical systems whose behavior could offer certain analogies with biological systems. Much of their research is focused on the response of biological systems to external disturbances. The laboratory also has a theoretical component that interacts constantly with our experimental activities.
